Here's what you need to know about donating
to the Used Book Sale

Donations are still on hiatus as we enter 2021.  We hope to be able to accept donations again soon, but it all depends on the nature of the pandemic and the success of the vaccination program.  As soon as things are all clear, we will post here and to our Facebook page and send emails to let you know.

We welcome your donations!

Over the years, we have learned what we can sell and what our community will not buy.  When we receive donations of items that will not sell, we have to discard them, which is a burden on our wonderful volunteers.  By following the guidelines in our Donation Policy, you help keep our Used Book Sales going.
We certainly appreciate your help!

Review Our Policies Below.
When and how can I donate?
  • Donations are accepted all year EXCEPT for the two weeks preceding a sale and the week following a sale unless we announce otherwise through email. Not on our email list? Contact us at cphfriends@nycap.rr.com.
  • If you have a very large donation (several boxes) please call the Library to arrange a time when volunteers can be at the Library to accept your donation.
  • If you would like a letter about your donation for tax purposes, please ask at the Welcome Desk when you make your donation.
  • Questions?  Email us for more information.
Used Book Sale Donation Policy
The Friends of the Clifton Park-Halfmoon Public Library gratefully accept your donation of books, CDs, DVDs, and Audiobooks on CD in excellent to good condition all year except for two weeks before and two weeks following three-day sales (to allow for sale preparation and cleanup). Please review the information below on donations.

Items We CANNOT Accept

We CANNOT accept materials in poor condition and materials we have found we cannot sell. When materials included in the list below are left for donation, FOL must recycle or discard them. PLEASE do not bring the following items to donate:
  • dusty, moldy or damaged books;
  • children's books that have been chewed, drawn in, water damaged, or had pages torn or removed;
  • magazines, textbooks;
  • Readers Digest Condensed Books;
  • VHS tapes;
  • cassette tapes.

What to do with Items
We CANNOT Accept

  • If you have damaged, dirty, or moldy books, or magazines, and wish to discard them, they can be taken to the Clifton Park Transfer Station, 217 Vischer Ferry Road, Rexford. The Recycling Center at the Transfer Station is free and open to anyone. Please call 371-6669 for more information on the Transfer Station’s Single Stream Recycling bins.
  • If you remove the hardback and spine of hardback books, the pages can be recycled and the hardback and spine can be discarded in your trash.
Thank You
 for your cooperation.
